Crime and Passions Walking Tour

Every bright and beautiful city has it darker corners, the places where people fear to tread...or find their greatest adventures.  Kings Cross is just such a place in Sydney.  The home of its more decadent history, Kings Cross was the traditional home for artists, and bohemians, criminals and passionates, and deviant lifestyles.  Now visitors can safely enjoy a taste of what it means to take a walk on the wild side of Sydney.  From its sophisticated beginnings, this area has always managed to transform itself and now it is lively and vibrant hot spot as controversial now as it it ever was.  But it's colorful history of passionate love crimes, fames, fortunes won and lost, mystery, drug obsessions, and romance is still there to learn about and enjoy.

The tour begins with a tour guide that conducts you via bus from Circular Quay to the Kings Cross.  There you can explore Darlinghurst Road, Woolloomooloo  Hill, the El Alamein fountain and even more interesting sights.  Even though many crimes and passions shaped Kings Cross, today it still offers an intense and glamorous night life, intriguing apartments and still controversial street deco.  And there is much lore to learn.  Here you can find out about the mysterious disappearances of several prominent Sydneysiders and funny mishaps that have occurred in Kings Cross's history.  See the celebrity apartments and where the famous parties were all held.   Visit the area where Frank Sinatra stood under siege in 1974, as well as stand exactly on the spot of the razor gang wars of Razorhurst.  And there's so much more.  The walking tour last for about two hours, where you are free to either return or continue your night time adventures.

This evening adventure begins everyday at 5 pm, and there are no restrictions to who may enjoy it, although some of the stories might not be suitable for very young children so discretion should be exercised.  The tour has a maximum of 16 people although usually there are smaller groups of 4-6, resulting in a more personal and intense experience and easy to follow directions for all concerned.  The tour operates regardless of weather and umbrellas or sunscreen as needed is included in the cost.  Also included in the cost is a free drink voucher for a Kings Cross cafe or other establishment.

This is truly one of the most adventurous tours that a visitor can take, exploring the dark wild side, the hidden history and savoring the night life that lies off the usual tourist path in Australia's Red Light Capital.  Bring your sense of intrigue and courage with you and of course don't forget to bring your camera to capture this slice of history to take back home with you.
