Your instructor will take you through unique ingredients and techniques in her friendly kitchen! Sit down for a relaxing green tea and be briefed on the experience to come.
Touch, smell, and sample the ingredients - become familiar with their characteristics and how they will be used in your cooking. The pantry is next - what are the staples for sauces and seasonings in Japan?
Depending on the class you choose, you'll learn the classics - from perfect miso soup to sushi and teriyaki, gyoza and konomiyaki - but there's plenty of lesser-known ones in there too! It sounds like a lot, but seeing it all done resonates the information better than a book ever could!
Then the fun begins - you'll prepare dishes as demonstrated by your instructor. This way of teaching shows how methods are performed traditionally, but also allows you to exercise a little creative flare.
Rotate between dishes being prepared and enjoy Japanese tea and drinks. At the end you'll have recipes to take home, and your class with enjoy a wonderful banquet together!
