Royal National Park Kayak Tours

Sydney, Australia offers many alternatives for visitors, anything from scenic shopping, to sightseeing and even activities for the more adventurous at heart.  One of this interesting options is the Kayak Tours in the Royal National Park.  Located 29 km south of central Sydney, it is only a 50 minute drive, easily accessible for several hours fun exploring the beaches, bays and bushlands of this scenic park.  The tour is also available to all, beginners as well as knowledgeable kayakers, as long as they reasonably fit and competent swimmers.  The tour is however, not suitable for children under tens years of age.

And what do you get on this tour?  Only the one of the most exhilarating rides of your life with great scenic views!  Starting with lessons on paddling and kayak control safety and fitting, safety vests are also provided to prepare you for your trek.  The styles of kayak available vary, and include both single and double kayaks either enclosed or sit-on-top models.  All are high quality touring kayaks, each with adequate storage space and rudders equipped.

The entire experience lasts for about two to three hours, plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and the excitement.  An experienced and knowledgeable guide will lead the small group out across the bay, following the beaches and the surrounding area of the Royal National Park.  There will be occasional stops, of course, to point out and explain the history and wildlife of the area to make the trip informative as well as exciting.  Halfway through the trek there will be a break for a swim and needed leg stretching along one of the many secluded beaches and grassy areas scattered with the Park.  During this time, you can enjoy a sweet morning tea before the return back to the starting point.

Although safety is an utmost concern during the Kayak Tour, there are certain preparations that you should make beforehand.  First, as has been mentioned, you should be in reasonable physical shape.  Before the trip, an indemnity form is usually required to be completely, so make sure you are ready for the trip.  Also remember that only those able to swim will be allowed to take the tour.  For the Tour, basic paddling instruction is provided as well as safety gear all included in the price, however, you should provide sunscreen for yourself if needed, along with towel, a change of clothes, a picnic lunch, sunglasses, water, a dry bag and a rug to sit on the park.  Proper preparation will make the trip enjoyable and remove any stress or anxiety.  And remember always that a trained and experienced guide will always be at hand.

The tour is conducted year round even in rain, although severe weather or wind strength exceeding 20 knots will result in a cancellation.  In this case the vendor will contact all those registered for that and arrange for a rescheduled trip.

Above all else, bring your sense of fun as this is one experience in Sydney that few will ever forget!
